Approach
A CV records where someone sat. It rarely records what they did there. Two people can carry the same title, at the same company, over the same years — one ran a line that was already stable, the other is the reason it became stable. On paper they look identical. They are not the same hire. So before we contact anyone, we work out what they actually did.
For an engineer, that means the specific scope they owned: which line, which process step, what the yield looked like before and after, what went wrong and how it was solved. For a researcher, it means the papers with their name in the right position, who cites the work, and whether the group they led still produces without them.
Some of this is public. Most of it is not, and comes from people who worked alongside them — former managers, collaborators, sometimes competitors. Those conversations happen before a profile reaches a client, not after.
Not everything can be established. Work under NDA stays under NDA. Some results are genuinely collective and cannot be credited to one person honestly.
A profile from us states what we established, and what we could not. Anything in the second group is marked where it appears in the text:

Throughout a search, we work as part of your team rather than beside it. We agree what matters with the people who will manage this hire, keep them close as the picture forms, and adjust as it does. In the market, we speak for you — often to people who have never dealt with your organisation, and whose first impression of it will come from us. We treat each of those conversations as if your name were on it, because it is.
